August 2010

It's been so long since I last blogged and I was moved by a friend's blog to start again.

Well it's been about a year since I blogged about weight and I'll update what's been going on in my life. I stopped going to Weight Watchers because even though the meetings were great and a big help, it took a long time to drive there and sit through the meetings. It's an excuse but that was too much time that I couldn't afford to lose at the moment. I hopped on Calories count on About.com and logged in everything I ate and that does work. When you're aware of what you're eating, it makes sense why you're gaining the weight. Without exercise, you will not lose any weight and any movement, walking, using the stairs, jogging, swimming, etc. does make a difference.

The next thing I tried the herbal HCG diet which was wonderful. I lost about 15 lbs and gained 5 back. I'm still maintaining my weight but hoping to drop at least 50 more. I should set a date so I have something to look forward to, I'll say February 28th, 2011. I think it was the hardest I've ever done because you're limited the foods that you cook and eat. You can't mix the vegetables together and you eat a different meat every meal. It was a struggle because preparation was needed. You couldn't just fly by on a whim thinking you would be okay. You had to plan your meals out and make sure that you stick strictly to the plan. BUT it actually works when you're dedicated to it. Like most things, you can succeed if you put all your effort and focus in accomplishing that goal. When you fall short, pick yourself up and continue. It doesn't stop when you fall, you keep going until you've gotten over the hurdle and continue.

I've kept most of the weight off but I haven't been making the best food choices. I had to find out what was driving my bad choices. Why I crave the certain foods (junk food) that I do? Was it emotional eating? Eating out of boredom or just because it's there.

I haven't stopped trying to eat right and I have to balance working out with the food I'm eating.
